Notes from Warren Ladd: Mr Ladd, after his marriage, settled in East Bradford, now Groveland; was town clerk of Bradford one year, and one of the selectmen and assessors two years; was chairman of the board of selectmen of Groveland twelve years, treasurer of the Congregational Society twenty-four years, clerk of said society forty-six years, and deacon of the Congregational Churck thiry-four years.Secretary and treasurer of the Groveland Mutual Fire Insurance Company about 20 years. In 1840 he took the US census in the towns of Boxford, Georgetown, and Rowley; was justice of the peace from 1840 to 1875; did quite an extenseve probate business, and was a land surveyor. He was appointed postmaster of Groveland in 1850 and held the office 10 years.
