Bodwell LADD, I
- Born: 12 Dec 1750, Haverhill, Essex Co, MA
- Marriage: Martha LEWIS
- Died: 15 Oct 1829, Theresa, Jefferson Co, NY at age 78
- Buried: Theresa, Jefferson Co, NY
General Notes:
Notes from Warren Ladd: of Mohawk, NY. He was a member of a company commanded by Major Samuel Bodwell, of Mehuen, at the battles of Lexington and Concord, and was in the battle of Bunker Hill.
Notes from file: Bodwell Ladd's age at marriage ca. 1799 was close to 50. His wife Martha had their last known child Harriet in 1809. It would appear that Martha was a good 15 years younger than Bodwell, so she may well have been his second wife. It is not clear if Bodwell was her first husband -- he may have been.
Notes from a file: A veteran of the Revolutionary War, Bodwell Ladd, then of Methuen, MA, served as a Private, in a company commanded by Maj. Samuel Bodwell, which marched on the alarm of 19 April 1775. He also served in Cap't. David Whittier's Co., in a regiment commanded by Maj. Benjamin Gage. He was apparently of Mohawk, NY, when he married. He died on 15 Oct 1829 in Theresa, Jefferson Co., NY and is buried in Old Theresa Cemetery.
Burial Notes:
Old Theresa Cemetery, Theresa, Jefferson Co, NY
Bodwell married Martha LEWIS. (Martha LEWIS was born about 1765 in Mohawk, Herkimer Co, NY and died on 22 Oct 1812.)
