History of Hastings: Between 1810 and 1820 Elijah Goodspeed, William Ladd, Daniel Chappel, Rial Hoisington, Leonard Fuller, and others became residents of the town. Mr. Goodspeed located on lot 26 in 1815 and was the first blacksmith in Hastings. Mr. Ladd was accompanied by his brother and settled on the "Salt road" on lot 22 in 1817.
William married Roxana HOISINGTON, daughter of Isaac HOISINGTON and Priscilla DENMAN. (Roxana HOISINGTON was born on 12 Jun 1793 in VT and died on 20 Oct 1866.)
