bullet  General Notes:

From Jeanine Ricketts: As reported in The History of Bureau County, Illinois, Lenda (Farnsworth) Robinson, daughter of Demis (Ladd) Farnsworth, knew that her grandfather, Lemuel Ladd, had served in the Revolutionary War. From the source "Record of Service of Connecticut Men, Part I, Outbreak of the War, 1775, p. 7, under Lexington Alarm List, "From the Town of Coventry," I found listed the name of Lemuel Ladd, who had served for 26 days. On that same list is the name of Nathaniel Ladd, purportedly a brother of Lemuel, who served 3 days. Also on the list are three Carpenter men and two Kingsbury men who served in the same unit. Both of these surnames are familiar, as they end up in the Alstead Vital Records. In fact, Olive Kingsbury married the brother of Thomas Farnsworth, Jonathan Farnsworth, and was Demis (Ladd) Farnsworth's sister-in-law. Olive's mother's maiden name was Carpenter. Due to the facts, surnames, and place names, connected with this military record, it appears that this record pertains to our Lemuel Ladd.

From Coventry Men Who Served in Recognized Units During the Revolutionary War:
"A document confirming the service of each veteran listed above [Lemuel Ladd, Nathaniel Ladd, Oliver Ladd] is on permanent file with the Town Clerk of Coventry, The Secretary of the Coventry Bicentennial Commission and the Secretary of the Coventry Historical Society, Inc."
