Jedediah Perkins LADD
Notes from Warren Ladd: He removed from Franklin, CT to North Hero, VT about 1787. He built the first store in North Hero in 1809, he was the first postmaster and built the only hotel ever erected in town in 1803. For twenty years it was used for judicial purposes, and was provided with a court room and jail. Mr Ladd occupied the building forty-two years during which time it had served as a court-house, church and tavern. It was burned down in 1857. He served as representative, sheriff, register of probate, and judge of the county court.
