Hiram LADD
Notes from Warren Ladd: He was a man of unaffected Piety and unimpeachable integrit. He removed from Unity to Dalton, NH in 1827; was one of the pioneers, and settled on a farm about half a mile from the village of Whitefield, NH and bult a largehouse in which he lived. He remained there until about 1836, when he moved to the western part of the town, on the Connecticut river, and embarked in trade in a country store with Benjamin Fay. The business did not prove a success, and he returned about 1839 to a farm adjoining the one on which he first settled, where he remained, living the life of a farmer until about 1873, whe he went to Wattsburg, Erie Co, PA to reside with his eldest son. In 1877 he fell from a fence and received injuries from which he soon died. He was a justice of the peace and held several town offices.
