  General Notes:

Notes from Warren Ladd: When about 20 years old he went to Middlesex, VT where he continued to reside. He taught school winters for a few years, and then commenced business as a shoemaker, in which he continued as long as he was able to work. He was postmaster for a number of years, and for about forty years held the office of justice of the peace, during which time he presided at nearly all the justice courts held in the town. He took great interest in schools, and was school committee for several years at different times. He was an adjutant in the State militia for a long time.
