Newspaper clipping dated Friday, October 17, 1941: Freeman F Crowell Funeral Services To Be Held Sunday - Last rites will be conducted Sunday afternoon for Freeman F Crowell, 88, retired town of Cicero farmer and member of a pioneer Onondaga County family, who died Wednesday night at Utica. The Rev. John Kisselburgh of Clay Lutheran Church, will officiate at services at 2:30 PM in the F R Sears funeral home, North Syracuse. Burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery, town of Clay.
Mr. Crowell's grandfather, Allen Crowell; his grandfather's brother, Ebenezer Crowell Jr. and their sister, Mrs. Erede Crowell Hall, migrated to Cicero from Massachusetts shortly after the war of 1812. The three were children of Ebenezer Crowell, Sr. and the grandchildren of Edward Crowell and Allen Bangs, who were Revolutionary War soldiers from Yarmouth, Mass. Freeman F Crowell was a descendant of Edward Fuller and Stephen Hopkins who came over on the Mayflower.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs Frank Coonley of Syracuse and Mrs Grace Ladd of Trout Lake, Mich.; four sons, Charles of South Bay, William of Cicero, Fred of Trout Lake and Grant Crowell of Rochester; a stepsister, Mrs William Smith of Cicero; four step brothers, Jay Crowell of Clay, Elijah and Henry Crowell of Cicero and Orville Crowell of Ohio; nine grandchildren and 18 Great grandchildren.
