Capt Daniel LADD, II

  General Notes:

Notes from Warren Ladd: He was a soldier in the army that captured Louisburg; was taken prisoner in an assault made on the fort, May 26, 1745, carried to France, was exchanged, returned home and settled at Deerfield, NH. He was a blacksmith and a manufacturer of iron; had a large ship, and a trip-hammer that was operated by water; employed a large number of men, who were engaged in digging ore and converting it to iron. He was a very active and enterprising business man; was on of the selectmen in 1767 and 1775. He made the first survey of the town of Unity, NH.

Daniel Ladd signed the Association Test and served as selectman of Deerfield, 1775-76. He was born in Kingston, N. H., 1725.
