Notes from Warren Ladd: In 1755 he was clerk of Capt Alcock's company, Peter Gilman's regiment. In 1756 he was Lieutenant in Capt Winslow's company. In 1757 he was Lieutenant in a company in Col Meserve's regiment, and Capt of a company in Col John Hart's regiment, Canada service, in 1758.

He was a surveyor of highways in Goffstown, NH, 1771 and 1772, and his son Jonathan held the same office in 1780. We find his name on the muster roll of Capt Samuel McConnell's company, Col Moor's regiment, which was raised to reinfoce the army at New York, July 26, 1776
