John LEWIS, II
John's most published history is that he came from Wales with his father and four brothers, landing in Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, removing to Newport, Newport County, Rhode Island where he resided for a few years until his soon to be wife immigrated to America, and by 1661 was among the prominent pioneers in Westerly, Washington County, Rhode Island. Our best information is that his ancestry is English but may have been in Wales at the time of his immigration to America.
Lewis Burial Ground, Watch Hill Rd, Westerly, Washington Co, RI John married Sarah UNKNOWN before 1658 in RI. (Sarah UNKNOWN was born about 1640 in East Greenwich, RI and died in 1705 in Westerly, RI.) |
