He started school in 1903 at Clay, moved with his parents and family to Bay Mills and Brimley, MI in 1908. Attended public school in Bay Mills and Brimley until 1916. Attended Ypsilantie Normal School in 1916. Received teacher certificate in 1916. Taught school at Bay Mills Reservation School until 1917. Worked in Munising, MI in summer of 1917 in the lumber mills, returned to school at Sault Ste Marie, MI, graduated with the class of 1918. Joined the US Naval Reserve, June 1918 and received training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center. After Boot Camp was stationed at US Naval Aviation Base, Eastly, England. Received foreign service stripe as S2C rating. Returned to Receiving Ship New York at Pelham Bay, NY on January 1919 and released from active duty. Taught school at Raco NY for balance of that year. Worked as a fisherman and in construction until 1921. Worked as an electrician and clerk for Northern Electric Co of Saulte Ste Marie 1922-23. Returned to Clay and worked in food processing plant until February 1924 at which time started work for Syracuse Supply Company until 1958. Retired from Syracuse Supply Co August 1958. Married Feb 16, 1924 to Maude Adie Loura, lived in Syracuse and surrounding area.

obit for Burdett R. Ladd. It is dated 9/9/1993 and reads:
Burdett R. Ladd
Former Syracuse area resident Burdett Richard Ladd, 95, died Wednesday at his home in Lincolnton, NC.
A native of Clay, Mr. Ladd lived in North Carolina 14 years. He was the widower of Maud L. Ladd. Mr. Ladd was a Navy veteran of World War I.
Both his wife Maud Lora, and his son Richard Henry died.
Surviving are two daughters, Maud Walden of Pickens, S.C., and Burdetta Trotta of Lincolnton; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Maurer Funeral Home, Moyers Corners, the Rev. Dorren Brown officiating. Burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 3541 Route 31, Baldwinsville.
