Jacob (Maricle) MERICLE

  General Notes:

Note from Paulette Hoelscher: Mary (Polly) Ladd the daughter of William Ladd married Jacob Maricle and to the best of my knowledge, it was their son, Jacob that changed the spelling to Mericle. This Jacob married Phoebe Ann Kellum....I have also seen it spelled Kellam. Jacob and Phoebe are my great great grandparents.

Jacob and Phoebe Maricle changed to Mericle were the first settlers in what is now Webster County, IA and that they gave birth to the first white child in that county and they would go on to have many children.

Jacob's parents Jacob Sr. and Mary (Polly) Maricle later followed them out to Webster County IA and that is where they died.

Jacob married Phoebe F KELLUM on 11 Nov 1841 in Binghamton, Broome Co, NY. (Phoebe F KELLUM was born on 1 Nov 1820 in Binghamton, Broome Co, NY, died on 18 Oct 1893 in Fort Dodge, Webster Co, IA and was buried in Fort Dodge, Webster Co, IA.)
