Notes from Warren Ladd: of Berlin Falls, NH

Article, Boston Post, Friday, March 6, 1903 - "Their Ages Aggregate 158 Years. Mr and Mrs Clark H Ladd Have Been Married 57 Years. (Photos) Clark H Ladd was born at Danville, VT, Dec 19, 1823; his wife, Susan C Mason, was born in the same town March 11, 1824. They were married at Danville, Jan 20, 1846. They moved to Island Pond, and have resided there most of the time for 50 years, but at present are with a daughter in Dorchester, 1242 Morton Street.

They have had 11 children, eight girls and three boys, all living, the oldest 56 and the youngest 35 years of age. They have 25 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

On the 50th anniversary of their marriage a reception was held at the Opera House, Island Pond, VT, and on that occasion the old couple with their 11 children were in the line to receive their friends. It was the first time in the history of the family that all had been together at one time, someone having always been absent from home.
