Notes from Janine Ricketts - I find only a Joshua D. Crane living in Keene, Cheshire, Alstead in 1820, none in Alstead itself, who was probably Joshua's son, born in 1775. The Joshua D. Crane continues in the census from 1820 until at least 1850, in Washington, Sullivan County, NH, age 40, who is probably the son of the earlier Joshua D., and the grandson of Joshua Crane who married Miriam Hatch-Ladd. There are quite a few Cranes in the Alstead area in the early censuses; several of them are Joshua's children by his first wife.
