General Notes:
The fourth son of Theodorus Eby (1), named Christian Eby(2) was born in Switzerland, February 12, 1698. He was married to Elizabeth Meyer, a member of one of the families that immigrated to Theodorus(1). Christian (2) and his wife settled on Hammer Creek, Elizabeth Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, about three miles north of Lititz. HEF p. 4
By far the best reported son of Durst Eby(1), was Christian Eby(2), who was probably born in Germany on Feb. 12, 1704. This late date of birth also explains why his name does not appear on the early assessments for Conestoga Township with his father Durst Eby(1), and his brothers John Eby(2), Peter Eby(2), and George Eby(2). He married Elizabeth Mayer on April 26, 1730, and in 1754 he built a beautiful home located in Warwick Twp. and placed a plaque of stone over the front door with the inscription "Christian Ebi - Elisabetha".
Christian Eby(2), died on Sept. 15, 1756, at the age of 52, and was buried in the cemetery at the rear of his home on Hammer Creek. It was not until Sept. 2, 1760, that we first find him mentioned in the records of the Orphans Court. On September 24, 1760, the Orphans Court ruled that the mill and plantation was valued at 1400 pounds for the 249 acre property, and Christian Eby, son of Christian Eby(2), took the property at that value. The other children to sign to release this property were John Eby, Barbara Eby, Peter Eby, Anna Eby, Andreas Eby, George Eby, Elizabeth Eby, Samuel Eby and Michael Eby. (Michael Eby, lived in Delaware when he signed this release.)
The line of Christian Eby(2), has been refined in this volume with many new dates and the names of several of the wives. We have also corrected much of the information on Samuel Eby and Michael Eby, both sons of Christian Eby(2), which should clear up much of the mystery on their lines. We did more primary research on these two individuals and think that we have finally separated their documents from those children of the same names in the family of George Eby(2).
