General Notes:
He was one of the original settlers of Waterloo County, ON. In the year 1817 he, with other relatives and friends from his native state, settled in Berlin, near the present site of the Waterloo County Court House. He soon afterwards made his home on a farm near Preston, ON, where he remained until 1844, when he returned to Berlin and worked at his trade of harness-making. In 1850 he moved to Colborne, Huron County, ON where he occupied a farm until 1856, and then moved to Conestogo, Ontario, where his wife died in 1862. By this time he was getting along in years and soon after went to live with his eldest son, Jonas, Elora, ON, where he remained until 1865, when he went to live with his third son, John, at Wyandot,ON. Here he remained until the time of his death. HEF p. 95
