Notes from Warren Ladd: He was educated in the public schools, and remained with his father until 1847, when he removed to Cabotville, (now Chicopee) and was employed for several yars in the bakery business with his brothers R E and L E Ladd. He was afterwards engaged in the business of travelling salesman for a large confectionery manufactory in Springfield. In 1865 he became associated with his brothers R E and C R Ladd, in the general insurance agency business as a member of the firm of Ladd Brothers & Co.
