Note regarding "The Ladd Family, A Genealogical and Biographical Memoir_" By Warren Ladd, Pub 1890: Warren Ladd does not list Lemuel as the son of Henry Ladd and Abigail Lilly. As a result, Corrin is not listed in the book.

Notes from John Ladd "Lest We Forget, A family Saga" (Written 1978-1980):
"Corrin was the son of Dr. Henry Ladd & Abiel Richardson. Born in Coventry, CT on June 8, 1776. 2 yrs old when father Henry died. 6 yrs old when mother married his father's brother Frederick. Then moved to Sharon VT. Later moved to Reading, Windsor Co, VT. Corrin grew up on the farm of Uncle Frederick. and was a farmer all his life. He married a Sharon girl whose maiden name is unknown however her first name was "Nellie" and she was born in 1778. Their first child, John was born in Sharon in 1799. Abt 1799 acquired a farm near Reading, Windsor Co, VT and lived there many years. They had 4 daughters but I was unable to find either their names or birth dates. Their older sons all born in Reading were as follows: Ambrose, B: 1808; Ira, B: 1815, Ezra, B: 1817 and Arbin, B: 1818. 1828 moved to Hastings, Oswego Co, NY. When they moved Frederick's oldest son, William, Went with them. They show on 1850 census with him 74 and she 72"

The following was listed under Dr Henry: "Dr Henry died on August 9, 1778 at the age of 34. Because the actions of Frederick Ladd. Henry's brother, had such an important bearing on the future of our ancestors, it is necessary to relate a little of his story. Frederick was born in Coventry in 1751. And was 7 years younger than Henry. In 1760, with the surrender of Montreal, the Colonial Militia was disbanded on the spot. The only way for the New Englanders to get home was to walk. They passed through what was later to become VT. In 1769, when Frederick was 18, he became obsessed with the idea of moving to VT. He was able to persuade his father to help him secure land near Sharon, Windsor Co, VT. After the Revolutionary War, Frederick, on his way back to his farm in Sharon, Windsor Co, VT, stopped in Coventry, CT to visit his family. He found his brother Henry had passed away and his widow was having trouble supporting her boys. He proposed a marriage of convenience and she accepted. Even though their marriage started as one of convenience, it must have developed into something more for they lived their life together and had several children."

ANALYSIS:
Dr Henry Ladd and Abiel Richardson did have a son named Corrin B: Jun 8, 1775 and D: Dec 10, 1777 at age 2. This Corrin was born in Shrewsbury, Rutland Co, VT in 1778, not in Coventry, CT, June 8, 1776. Dr. Henry did not have a brother named Frederick. Frederick was the son of Samuel Ladd and Ann Woodward. Fredrick was Dr Henry's cousin. (Frederick had a son named "Orrin") Frederick married Fanny Hodges, Nov 10, 1788 and he lived until 1851 and she died in 1858. If Frederick married Abiel Richardson when Corrin was 6 (and born in 1776) that would have made their marriage date around 1782, how could they have lived a long life together if he married Fanny Hodges in 1788. He has Polly's name as Nellie, Corrin's son John being born in Sharon VT, not Shrewsbury, VT. I can not make any connection to Frederick having a son named William.

Notes from Marge Rice-Isabell:
There was a woman who descended from Aldis Ladd, daughter of Corrin, who was researching in 1983 trying to find Corrin's parents. She states: Corrin and Polly have several children buried in the South Reading Cemetery in VT. Henry Ladd's will 4/6/1768, Coventry, CT states Lemuel as his second son. She has a copy of the inventory of Lemuel's estate and the guardianship papers of Corrin and Abner Ladd, sons of Lemuel and Miriam. Apparently Abner was incompetent. The date she is unsure of but appears to be 11/7/1796 and states that Abner is 21. She states she acquired them from Cheshire Co, NH. Joshua Crane was the guardian. Joshua Crane and Miriam were married 11/10/1790 at Alstead, NH. Their daughter Eunice was born 9/1/1793. She has land records of both Corrin and Lemuel Ladd. She obtained from the Town Clerk of Reading VT a copy of the final deed of Corrin Ladd to John Ladd (Son?) dated 3/18/1830. Marge has a copy of Corrin and Polly's marriage certificate but it does not state parents names.

Abner, born about 1775, would have been about 3 years older then Corrin. Corrin would have been about 5 years old when Lemuel died and about 12 years old when Miriam married Joshua Crane. Did Corrin have a hostile relationship with Joshua Crane which caused him to leave home at a very early age?
